There are few things more frustrating than working hard on an audition you are perfect for only to hear nothing but crickets after sending it off…
If you can relate to this feeling, read on:
It may seem hard to trust that we understand and empathize with the frustration of wanting feedback or even just recognition for the tape getting submitted.
Here’s where this post comes in.
If we were given the magic of time to be able to give each actor feedback or reassurance, our work hours would lead to a very low quality of life.
The truth is that we are incredibly spread thin with the timelines we are given and unfortunately, this makes it impossible to read the amount of actors that we need do and also give each person feedback.
This means that even when your tape is being sent forward to producers and yielding praise, you still may not know about it.
This is why trust is going to be your most hopeful tool in this process.
Trusting yourself, your craft and the process is going to make those frustrating and ruminating thoughts much quieter.
Trust that we watch every single self tape that is requested with mindful consideration.
Trust that you have a full understanding of your craft and the choices you made were reflective of this understanding.
Trust that you are not alone in your experience.
Trust that if there is something to be known about the status of your audition, your rep will update you.
And finally…
Trust that even without hearing anything, every time you audition, you are making a new fan.
