Monday Myth Debunkers: You Need to Give Them the Take They Are Looking For.

Let’s start of by asking this:

𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕚𝕗 𝕨𝕖 𝕕𝕠𝕟’𝕥 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕨𝕖’𝕣𝕖 𝕝𝕠𝕠𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕗𝕠𝕣?

That’s not to be confused with the notion that doing the work, having strong text analysis skills and using the information we give you to make smart choices is NOT the way to go.

What we want you to take away is this:

Don’t give us the take you think we want to see. 𝙂𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙪𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪.

Emulating what you see in a procedural is not acting.

Speaking in a way that feels inauthentic to you not acting.

Rattling off information without even processing what you’re saying is… 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨.

Don’t worry about what you see on TV. Worry about YOU and your character.

If you get an audition for a role that doesn’t “feel” like you, welp, 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 🙃

You got that audition for a reason.

And for the most part, we would not be selecting you if we didn’t think you had a solid chance of booking this role.

So make it your own.

Don’t give us the take you 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 we want to see.

Show us the take that is going to blow our minds.

Show us the take that is so uniquely YOU, our creative team thinks they’ve hit the jackpot.

Figure out who your character is and make unapologetically YOU.

𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕤𝕖 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕒𝕦𝕕𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕤 𝕨𝕖 𝕝𝕠𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕤𝕖𝕖.
