On today’s episode of casting #didyouknow?

Did you know that we have a numbering system that track & decide who we give the audition to or who to save for a potential 2nd round?

Swipe to see what those numbers look like.

What does this really mean for you?

Well, not much other than a fun fact and an opportunity to get an inside peak into our process.

How we utilize those numbers and what they represent can greatly vary from office to office.

Usually, CDs will select “1” as an actor they definitely want to read. Sometimes, they use “6” as a “first pass” and then decide who they want to move to a “1” at the end.

Sometimes those numbers are reversed or mean things like, “this person is offer only,” or “I want to save this person for something else."

How does this pertain to you?

In a couple of ways:

1. Your headshot is important because it’s the first thing we see. But is it ultimately going to be the thing that moves you from a “maybe” to a “definitely read” number? Meh, probably not. It tells you that there’s a final determination phase for many actors. And usually, at this point, it’s all dependent on those demo reels.

2. It tells you that even if you didn’t get the audition, it’s entirely possible that someone liked what they saw. They thought you were talented and interesting. But maybe not exactly right for this. It means that, very often, we are seeing you & your potential EVEN when you didn’t get the audition! And the more we come across those strong materials, it’s inevitable that the right role is around the corner. Auditions and bookings alone never tell the whole picture.

It takes time, patience, efficiency and a whole lot of experience to go through the volume of submissions we do. Trust that we know what we’re doing — and that you do too.
