We’ve talked about this topic before but it’s been a minute.
And with things looking cautiously optimistic at the moment, we thought it would be a timely reminder.
We've heard from actors and reps alike how this is often a worrisome thought.
Is there any truth to it?
Before we get more into that, let’s talk about the common sense aspect:
How would anyone get their first guest star credit if this was the case?
Everyone has to start somewhere. That part is never going to change.
Now there might be a time where your growth as an actor changes in multiple ways; and this may lend itself to a valid desire to say “no” to co-star roles.
And that is absolutely fine.
But what if you’ve been in co-star land for a while and you’re looking to “level up” but you’re also looking to just… WORK?
Does it look “bad” to continue booking co-star roles while you actively pursue “bigger” roles?
Absolutely not.
As CDs, we understand the ebbs and flow of an acting career more than you may realize.
We know, especially, that in times like these, some “guest star actors” may need/want to take more co-star roles.
If anything, please remember this: there is grace in this process. More than your mind would like you to think.
Hiring you for a co-star roles does not negate our ability to see you for a guest star role 2 weeks later.
You do what’s best for you.
If you’re still feeling anxious about it, remember this:
Communication between you & your reps + your reps & us can solve most of these concerns.
