Let’s talk about first steps.
For the most part, the resounding answer for where you should start first will be with acting class.
But there’s an important step that if skipped, will only result in what we sometimes like to call “band-aid acting.”
Acting requires an ability to easily access emotions. In order to do so, it’s imperative that an actor is able to be open enough to feel, empathize and figure out where your triggers lie.
In the great words of Larry Moss, this often starts in therapy.
Therapy is incredible for too many reasons to list in one post, but it can often be a vital first step (or ongoing step!) in an actor’s journey.
Being able to access your emotions + triggers in an effective and healthy way will allow the training to help you reach maximum potential.
Don’t overlook self work with acting.
Since we are telling human stories… it starts with you.
