Let’s talk about the dang algorithm.
Does timing in submissions matter? Do we get burnt out by the end? How soon are we done looking through submissions?
While going through thousands of submissions IS a time suck, we’re committed to it. It’s a massively important part of our job.
Do we get burnt out? Sure! Wouldn’t you?!
But here’s the thing, we have a job to do.
Reason #𝟭 why you shouldn’t worry about the algorithm:
What if THE ONE is on page 22 out of page 25. But because we were tired, we decided to stop at page 20.
That would be a big, fat tragedy.
Reason #𝟮 why you shouldn’t worry about the algorithm:
We can sort the algorithm however we’d like! (Swipe to see our fun options).
In fact, many CDs will sort by media (especially for the smaller roles). Because if we don’t know you, we need to see some acting. And if we don’t see evidence of acting, it’s going to be tough to take a chance on you. And once the media submissions stop, sometimes, we do too.
For the larger roles, we know some of those actors might not have reels or stopped updating them years ago because they’re now a #BFD.
Bottom line: being submitted in a timely manner (within the first few hours of a breakdown being released) is far more important than which page you end up on.
Have great materials and leave the rest to us.
